“Even little voices have big stories.” – Akshara Nehru
Akshara Nehru is a young author with a rich cultural background—Indian by heritage, born in Boston, and proudly raised in Singapore. Her passion for storytelling began early. At the age of six, she wrote Not a Lap, a tender children’s board book that celebrates the quiet, comforting bond between a mother and her child. She originally created the story as a heartfelt gift to her kindergarten principal in June 2021.
In 2025, Akshara’s love for writing gained national recognition when she won 2nd place in Singapore’s Copyright School Challenge 2024/25 Essay Competition. Her story was selected as one of the top creative entries to be published by Singapore Asian Publisher (SAP), in a special anthology of essays and poems by young writers.

Now turning 10, Akshara continues to explore big feelings through small stories—stories that speak to children and parents alike. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, drawing, and asking big questions about the world.
